Stockholm 2016: Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær has created a stackable stool with legs that form an undulating wooden support around its seat

"I think stackability is one of the most important features of a stool, both when transporting and also while storing the furniture," said Melvær, whose previous designs include lamps shaped like flower buds andpatterned glass vases.

"I thought it was an interesting challenge, as it gives some restraints for the design," she added.

Stockholm 2015: design studio Färg & Blanche has launched a collection of upholstered stools for Gärsnäs, the Swedish furniture brand that already produces its Emma and Emily chairs.

Named after two dogs that frequent the Gärsnäs showroom, the Elsa and Jack stools are upholstered in fabric or leather and have solid ash legs.

Färg & Blanche launched the Emily chair last year as a smaller version of the Emma armchair unveiled the year before. Both feature quilted upholstered backrests and rounded wooden legs.

The new stools are visually linked to the chairs by the sleeves of material that cover the top portions of the legs.

Stockholm 2016: Swedish designer Monica Förster has partnered with brand Erik Jørgensen to create a coffee table to be used with her Savannah seating range for the Danish furniture company.

"This table is designed to harmonise with the entire collection, but it can also stand on its own," said Förster, who has previously designed a modular sofa system for Fogia and wooden furniture and accessories for Zanat.

The Savannah tables echo the slender wooden framework of the sofas and chairs, which were designed by Förster for the company a year ago. The furniture rests on four slightly splayed legs, which support a solid oval-shaped top – two different sizes are available.
